There are many customs and habits that people all over the world from many different cultures do during the New years holidays. People eat special foods. They meet friends and relatives. Hold parties and festivals. And probably the most important, they hope they and their families will have a great new year. I of course do the same, but I don’t go to a shrine or pray to god in my house. I don’t buy a written oracle or go to a Fortune teller.
When I get up in the morning on New Years day. I go out and start walking to look for the first bird I see. After finding the bird I try to guess how the new year will be for me and my family. Last year I saw a Daurian Redstart, which is a beautiful bird and one that I like, so I thought 2009 would be a good year. But this year I was disappointed to see not 1 but 2 crows flying in the sky together. Oh dear! Is 2010 going to be such a bad year for me? I hope not. |
